Cur and ani files on GIMP?

You know the files ani and cur, the mouse picture files, right?
It would be a lot of help if there was a plugin for gimp to make it possible to make them.
You know, you can never trust any program in google that says: "You can make cursor files with me! no spywares!!!!11"
Thanks

if you want to have a file

if you want to have a file made in gimp as a .cur file or .ani file just save the file, go into the window with the file, click on tools, then folder options. it should pop up a new window. in that go to the view tab and un-check the box that says "hide extentions for known file types" after click aply and you should be able to rename any picture you have as a .cur and it will be a windows cursor file.

i forgot to mention: this

i forgot to mention: this should also work for .ani files... i'm pretty sure you can rename/reformat any file

you are lucky (if you still

you are lucky (if you still check the topic) You may create cursor with gimp no risk of spyware there is a plgin to create animated cursor (and i suppose not animated cursor ) http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=27573

Woah, thank you a lot! By the way, I'm having problems with the plug-in. I can't save any ani files... I'm using Gimp 2.4.6.... Any help, please?

You can save the file as

You can save the file as ".ico" and rename it to make it into ".cur" but I don't know how to make it ".ani" =\

GImp 2.6 cursor plug in goes nuts

Whenever I used it and saved the cursor as a ".ani" but didn't do it "save as" style, just normal save, and sometimes even the save as way, it creates a cursor that when I use it, it makes the whole screen freak out and start shaking like a broken film in a movie theatre. I use windows xp and gimp 2.6.

.ani in xp

.ani cursors are not supported in xp only vista and 7 so you would have to save as .cur

Windows XP

Windows XP support animated cursors. I did some my own cursors (all was animated) and all of them works on Windows XP. There could be problem in your .ani files, maybe in their animation.
