How to Save Plugins, Fonts, Scripts to Ubuntu, XP, or Vista

Bruce: What version of Operating System are you using? Linux? Windows XP? - Vista? If you're using Windows XP, you will find all of the .gimp-2.x folders under C:\Documents and Settings\Your username\.gimp-2.x\ The folders are named accordingly. (i.e. plugins, scripts, brushes, etc) If you're using Vista, you will find all the .gimp-2.x folders under C:\Users\Your username\Documents\.gimp-2.x If you're using Ubuntu you'll find the .gimp-2.x folders at home/username/.gimp-2.x If you add any files to these folders while GIMP is open on your computer, you'll need to refresh for brushes, patterns, and scripts. Plugins require GIMP to be restarted. .scm files must be saved with the .scm extension in order for the scripts to work. Using notepad to save these files requires you save them under "all types" and not as .txt files. It's best to right click on the .scm links and save link as, browse to the appropriate folder and save it. ***Question to whoever is in charge of this forum: Is it possible for "how to" information like this to be posted to a sticky on the site, so it can be found easily in a search/click? I'll be glad to write it up for you guys, if necessary. It would certainly eliminate "some" repetition of information across the forum.***
